How to Recover Deleted Emails in Outlook 2019, 2016 & 2013

This blog contains the information regarding the method to recover deleted emails from OST file in MS Outlook 2016, 2013, 2010 & 2007 when you lost or deleted emails accidentally.

Have you deleted the emails from OST file and looking for the solution? Don’t upset you will find the required solution here. Sometimes it happens in hurry or accidentally you delete the data files in Outlook with Exchange Server. The OST file is the offline data file which can be used in offline mode. Mainly, it stores the data of Outlook account mailbox like email, task, calendar, contacts, etc. The copy of data is also stored in hard drive. The feature of accessing OST during offline is the feature of it. Due to which you can access the data fast. The synchronization is maintained with the mail server.

Though, the issue arises when you don’t find your deleted emails in Deleted Items folder. The Deleted Items folder restores the deleted files. When you delete emails permanently or delete the folder from Deleted Items folder these cannot be recovered from Deleted Item folder. So, refer the below section to find the solution.

Recover Deleted Emails from OST File in MS Outlook Using Outlook 2010

The method described here is only applicable for Outlook 2010 and 2008 versions. Follow the below steps.

  1. Navigate to Control Panel and click on the Mail.
  2. Choose the email account from the displayed list of configured account and then click on Change button.
  3. In the current window, click on More Settings option.
  4. Choose the Advanced tab and deselect the ‘Use Cached Exchange Mode’ option.
  5. Then, click on the Apply button in the Microsoft Exchange window.
  6. After that, click on Outlook Data File Settings button for further process.
  7. A new window will display on the screen. Now, choose the Disable Offline Use button and click OK.
  8. A message will be shown ‘Outlook will not be able to work with your OST file’, then click on the Yes to continue. This will take you to the More Settings window.
  9. Again select the Outlook Data File Settings option. At the same time, activate the Browse tab. Then, open an old offline data file and click on the OK in the same window.
  10. Under Change Account Window, select the checkbox corresponding to Use Cached Exchange Mode.
  11. Click on the Next. Then click on Finish.
  12. At last, open Outlook application, here you will see a message that ‘Outlook is using an old copy of your OST’. Click on OK in the current window and wait to launch Outlook properly. The deleted emails will be recovered from OST file.

Important:  Don’t launch Microsoft Outlook again; it will open with a new OST file.

After the complete process, you can view all the data items. Moreover, you can export the old OST file data into the new PST file.

Recover Deleted Emails from OST File in MS Outlook Using Automated Tool

The previous method has a limitation that it cannot recover large sized OST file. To depress this limitation there is an alternate solution Convert OST to PST tool. This tool can recover any size of OST file. It can restore deleted emails of OST file. This tool will help you in repairing the file and avoid unwanted loss.
