Data Migration Alert: Files with Specific Permissions Not Supported

This document highlights the limitations of the Google Drive API and their impact on the Aryson Google Drive Migration Tool. These API restrictions influence how the Google Drive Migrator accesses and backs up files from Google Drive. Please review the following points to gain a clear understanding of these limitations and their potential effect on backup operations.

Note: However, these limitations come from restrictions in the Google Drive API, not from the tool itself.

Shared Drive and Normal Drive Compatibility

Aryson Google Drive Migration Software can back up files from both Shared Drives and individual Google Drives. However, if the file owner has not granted explicit read or write permissions for shared files, our tool won't be able to access or back them up. Ensure proper permissions are granted before initiating the backup.

Zero-Byte Files Exclusion

Files with a size of 0 bytes (empty files) are automatically excluded from the backup. Only files with actual content will be processed. Ensure that important files are not empty if they need to be included in the backup.

Download and Edit Permission Restrictions

Files with restricted download or edit permissions will not be backed up. If the file owner has disabled download or edit options, the software will skip those files. Check and modify the permissions to allow download or edit access temporarily for files that need to be backed up.

Large File Size Export Limit

The API has a maximum file size limit of 10 MB when exporting Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides. Files larger than 10 MB cannot be exported directly via the API and will be excluded from the backup. For larger files, use the export links field in the API response to download the file in smaller segments or different formats like PDF or ODP.

The Aryson Google Drive Migration Tool works within these limitations, so users may need to adjust permissions, check file sizes, and reorganize folders for optimal backup results.
