How to Open EDB File without Exchange Server
EDB is the Extensible Storage Engine Database File that is created by Microsoft Exchange Server for storing entire mailbox items like emails, tasks, contacts, etc. For opening the EDB file, Exchange Server is a necessity. Method 1: Exchange Server Mailbox Merge Wizard
ExMerge or Exchange Server Mailbox Merge Wizard lets the exchange administrator export data from one exchange server to another exchange server. This wizard can convert EDB file to the PST file. This utility was earlier available on Microsoft’s official site and now it can be downloaded from Google easily.
The steps to open EDB file without Exchange Server using ExMerge are as follows:
- Download and launch exmerge.exe
- Extract the file and then click on the OK button.
- Launch emerge.exe and then click on the Next button.
- Choose the Export and Import option and then press the Next button.
- Check Extract data from an Exchange Server box and then press the Next button.
- Now, click on the Import Procedure tab and then check Archive data to the target store box, and after that click on the OK button.
- Enter the details in Message Details Option and then press the OK button.
- Select Mailbox for exporting and then click on the location to save the file.
- As soon as the export process is completed and then click on the Finish button.
Method 2: Exchange Admin Centre
This method will export EDB to the PST file using the Exchange Admin Centre. The steps of doing so are given below:
- First of all, create a New Shared Folder.
- Press the Permission tab and then set the Folder Shared and Security Level.
- Next, open the Organization Management and then click on the Exchange Admin Centre.
- Now, press the Permissions button, and after that double-click on the Receipt Management and choose to Add to Role.
- Now, select Mailbox Import Items and then press the OK button.
- Next, open the EAC and then select the mailbox.
- Now, right-click on the Mailbox and then select Export to PST file.
- Click on the Finish button after completion of the task.
A Direct Way for EDB File Opening
