In the Windows systems, disk drives often face integrity issues. It doesn’t matter whether they are internal drives or external drives. These issues lead the system to disk errors. By checking the disk drives on a regular basis can help you to remove the risk of the disk errors. In Windows, disk errors are not common, but when they occur, they can lead you to permanent data loss. So let’s see, how to check disk drives for Integrity and the way to fix disk error in Windows 10.
Before moving towards the resolution for disk errors, let’s discuss the reasons for the issue. It can help you to keep away all these kinds of errors from your system.
Whatever the reason is, the thing is to detect the issue and resolve it using the best approach. This error can lead to the inaccessibility of the files and data stored on the Drive. So, the next big thing is to check the Integrity.
For protecting your data and keeping your system safe from these errors, it is recommended to perform the integrity check regularly on the disk drives. This will help you if any issue is evolving there in the partitions. To perform the integrity check, you can go through the below-mentioned process:
Step 1. Go to My Computer and right-click on the Drive. Select Properties from the menu.
Step 2. From the freshly appeared properties window, select the Tools tab. In the Error Checking section, hit the Check button. Windows will scan the Drive and provide a report after the scan.
Step 3. If there is any problem with system files, then another window will pop up. Select Repair drive to start the fixing process. It will take some time to fix the corruption, and it also depends upon the size of the Drive.
Step 4. You will get a confirmation when the scan is complete. By clicking on the Show Details buttons, you will get a complete report of integrity check.
If there is any system error or issue with the Drive, then go for the resolution provided below.
If any integrity issue is there, then you can opt for the below-mentioned methods. These methods are easy to use, and they will help you to remove the errors.
chkdsk is a Windows utility that can be used to check the Integrity of the memory card. You can follow the below steps to use this utility:
Step 1. Press Win+R to open the Run box and type cmd. Then, hit Enter.
Step 2. Type chkdsk h: /g and hit the Enter key. Here, g is the drive letter, and you can replace it with the Drive or partition letter that’s having an issue.
Step 3. Now, chkdsk will run a process on your disk drive, and it will try to fix the corrupted drive-by resolving the disk error.
Check for the Integrity after the process completes and if any issue persists then go for the recovery of your data and replace the hardware.
If the issue still persists even after performing the integrity test and using chkdsk, then replace the hardware component. But, before replacing the hardware component, it is recommended to recover your valuable data from the Drive. You can use the data recovery tool, which will recover all the data from the corrupt Drive. Follow the below guide to perform the recovery:
Step 1. Download the Aryson Windows Data Recovery utility and
launch it on your Windows system.
Step 2. Select the Drive, which is having the disk error and choose the recovery mode.
Step 3. Provide the saving location for the recoverable data.
Step 4. Now, the utility tool will provide a preview of all the scanned and recoverable data.
Step 5. Hit Yes button when it says “Do you want to save deleted files?”.
Step 6. Soon the tool will save all the recovered data on the specified storage location.
As I’ve already suggested that you should perform integrity tests on a regular basis to save your data from the data loss. The Integrity can be tested using the chkdsk, but if still, the issue is there, then you are recommended to recover your data first and then replace the hardware to save yourself from any future issue. I hope, now you can fix disk error quickly on your Windows system without losing a single bit of data.
