BKF files are backup files made up by Windows Backup Utility. All the versions of Windows since Windows 7 does not contain NTBackup utility. To open BKF files in Windows 7, 10 & 8, you first need to install NTBackup by downloading it from the internet for free.
Windows Backup Utility was available on Windows NT and Windows XP Pro. But for other versions of Windows, you need to download nt5backup.cab which is basically a compressed file and it contains three files: ntbackup.exe, ntmsapi.dll and vssapi.dll.
To open BKF files, the first point is to install the NTBackup.exe. You can also locate the files in C:\Windows\System32. It contains two other DLL files called Ntmsapi.dll and vssapi.dll. Save these files in the same location as NTBackup. Steps to follow BKF files in Windows 7, 10 & 8 are:
