Gmail provides only 15 GB of data for storage. It includes everything from Google Drive to Google Photos. This much storage is nothing in this digital world. Just a few images can fill up your whole space in Gmail. But it is all for the users that require a huge amount of storage. For a standard user, 15 GB is quite a lot.
But then, how does space get filled up so quickly? What are the reasons? Have you ever wondered? The first and foremost reason is the piling up of unseen emails. These emails take most of the data that you have never even seen. Organize and delete them to free up space in Gmail. The other way is to delete all the emails containing an attachment. You can also transfer email from one Gmail to another Gmail account. This will clear up the storage more quickly.
Some of the methods like deleting attachment emails and other unseen emails can clear the storage. Some other methods are as follows:
1. Check the storage page
2. Look for older emails
Google contains a search bar. You can type command older, which will bring all the emails before a certain date. For example- older:2020/04/30
This will bring all the emails before 30th April 2020. You can then select the emails and delete them.
3. Check the size of email
You can also check the size of emails and their attachments. For example- size:10m or larger:10m or smaller:10m
The above example contains three commands. First one is size, which will bring the attachments of the given size. The next is a larger command, which will bring the attachments larger than 10 MB. The last one is a smaller command. This command will bring all attachments smaller than 10 MB.
4. Find the type of attachments
You can also find the attachment according to its type. Type- filename:jpg
This will bring all the attachments of file type jpg. You can also change the filetype like .rar, mp3, jpeg, doc, pdf, etc.
5. Delete emails from Trash
The emails you delete from the inbox get stored in the Trash folder. It takes too much storage space which might be filling up your Gmail. Remove all the unwanted emails to free up space.
6. Try a Professional Software
To free up space in Gmail, another method is to first take a backup of all the data of Gmail using third-party software like Aryson Gmail Backup Tool. It can also migrate all the data to another email client and then your Gmail will be again free of storage space.
Follow the steps below to Free Space in Gmail Account
There are several ways available to free up space in Gmail. Gmail itself provides numerous commands that can set apart the files according to your preference. A software called Aryson Gmail Backup Tool is also described above to take a backup of data and also for migrating to another email client like Hotmail, Yahoo, Thunderbird, etc.
