What Data Is Exported During Conversion?

Outlook stores a lot of data ranging from emails, contacts, attachments, tasks, calendars, journals and so on. So before proceeding we need to keep in mind what type of data is exported during the whole process:

  • When you manually move email from OST to PST, Outlook doesn’t export the email attachments
  • Outlook doesn’t export meta data for instance
  • When you import mail from OST to PST in Outlook: views, archive settings, message rules and even blocked senders list don’t get exported
  • Only you emails, calendars and contacts get imported during the process

How To Manually Import mails From OST to PST In Outlook

There are three techniques with which you can easily move emails from Outlook OST to PST.

Method 01: Using Export Feature

  • Launch MS Outlook
  • Go to ‘File’ and click on ‘Export to a file’ and click ‘Next’
  • Now select ‘Personal File Folder (.pst)’ and click ‘Next’
  • Here just select the folders stored in your PST file and click ‘Next
  • Now brows the location where you want your files to be saved and click ‘Finish’

Note: This process works only when you are connected with Exchange server.

Method 02: Archive Feature

  • Start MS Outlook in your system
  • Go to File – Archive
  • Now select the files and mailbox items that you want to archive and click ‘Next’
  • New select the location where you want to save the files and click ‘Ok’
  • And after a couple f minutes, the archiving of files will get over.

Note: The process will not allow you to export contacts.

Method 03: Drag & Drop

  • Start MS Outlook in your system
  • Create a new .pst file
  • Now drag and drop your files to the new PST file one by one

Note: Importing sent items, contacts, calendars is not possible with this technique
